DESCRIPTION:Speaker: David Powers\, Former BBC Journalist\nEcuador and the Galapagos are home to an astonishing variety of wildlife\, including over 1\,600 bird species. Keen traveller and photographer David Powers will present highlights from his recent visit\, showcasing his stunning photographs of hummingbirds\, spectacled bears\, magnificent condors in flight\, and more. One unforgettable moment was capturing the mating dance of blue-footed boobies on video. Though comical and ungainly on land\, these birds transform during their elegant courtship ritual\, making it a truly remarkable sight. \nDavid Powers is a former BBC journalist who spent much of his career in Malawi and Japan. As Tokyo correspondent in the 1980s and 90s\, he reported on Emperor Hirohito’s death\, Japan’s bubble economy\, and interviewed Mikhail Gorbachev. He also guided Michael Palin in Around the World in Eighty Days. After retiring early\, he ran a translation agency with his late wife\, authored over a dozen web development books\, and created LinkedIn Learning video courses.
