Monthly Talk: Where You Eat is Who You Are

A History of Restaurants with a Serving of Snobbery, Theatrics and Insolvency
Restaurants have never been just places to eat. Steven Fogel examines what dining rooms reveal about ambition, class, hierarchy, celebrations, power and the English on display. From post-war austerity to Michelin stars, he takes a wry look at front-of-house snobbery, staff hierarchy, tipping, booking nightmares, restaurant economics, and much else.
Steven Fogel lunched extensively as senior partner of an international law firm and continued to explore restaurants after changing from law to chairing an investment management company. His later board roles included the University of London, the Freud Museum, a dance company, and a musical artists agency.
